We just returned from an incredible family vacation at Club Med Quebec-Charlevoix. The resort itself has a warm atmosphere, stunning views of the St. Lawrence River, world-class mountain biking terrain, and is exceptionally well-managed under GM Nicolas. He has clearly cultivated an outstanding team, as throughout our stay, the G.O.s consistently went out of their way to make us feel looked after.
Traveling with young children can be challenging, but the childcare teams here actually made it a vacation. My 1-year-old daughter usually experiences stranger danger with new people, but she had a genuinely wonderful time during the day at Baby Club Med, almost entirely thanks to Lea and Roxanne. Their calm approach, patience with some early tears, and engaging personalities completely won her over. And above all, we loved how they created such a secure, nurturing environment where we knew she was safe and happy - with the frequent Whatsapp updates being a nice cherry on top.
My 4-year-old son, meanwhile, initially struggled with drop-offs at Mini Club and cried quite a bit at the start. The G.O.s running the club, specifically Zack, Louis, and Mimi, were so welcoming and stepped up far beyond what was required of them, spending the time needed with him until he felt completely comfortable and engaged in the fun. He ended up having an awesome time hiking, learning 'circus’ skills, and playing games and sports with the other kids. He has not stopped talking about how much fun he had at the Mini Club.
In the evenings (which thankfully started early because of the aforementioned saints of childcare), the bar team—Edouard, Nate, Adrian, Roxane, Xavier, Val, and Alice— cultivated a wonderfully lively and engaging atmosphere. Beyond mixing great cocktails (the Whiskey Sour in particular being a work of art), this good-looking and charming staff effortlessly connected with G.M.s and went out of their way to ensure guests were having a great time. The main bar was the social hub of the resort, with the bar team taking the lead in setting an energetic vacation vibe. And even when facing the daily peak crowds, they handled everything with style and grace, with little to no wait for drinks. As an added touch they mixed cool cocktails featuring local Canadian ingredients / liquor, which was a nice subtle way of reminding us that we had traveled somewhere special on our vacation. It goes without saying that this crew possesses the versatility and natural hospitality that would translate seamlessly to other resorts and climates.
Last but not least, the nighttime entertainment far surpassed our expectations, with production value and overall quality being head-and-shoulders above other Club Med resorts we’ve visited. From GM Nicolas’s Canada Day toast & celebration to the music acts and circus shows, we were consistently amazed. The shows were wide-ranging in their genres—some funny, some dark, some simply mesmerizing—with the aforementioned staff and others delivering stellar performances, including dancing and circus-style acrobatics. The 90s cover show was highly entertaining, and the absolute highlight for us was 'Carousel'—a twisted-in-a-good-way, artistic and mesmerizing circus show that was executed to perfection.
Overall, an incredible vacation. A massive thanks to Lea, Roxanne, Zack, Louis, Mimi, Eduoard, Nate, Adrian, Roxane, Xavier, Val, Alice, and Nicolas for the unmatched hospitality. We’ll be back to Quebec-Charlevoix Club Med soon.
